COST OF EGGS
September, 1985.
I am keeping a flock of seven chickens, a gift from the Polsons, who have moved into the city from rural Manoa Valley. After allocating the cost of 50# of feed and 3' of coop wire to each of the eggs collected so far, I find the eggs are costing me $12.27/dozen. (Cost would have been less if I hadnt lost 40% of my first days production when my three-year-old son threw onto the mountainside two of the five eggs he gathered. Dave told me he just wanted to see what they would do.)
