All Rights Reserved.   A Pattern of Leaves (2003) © 2003 by Bud Grossmann HOW DO I FORGET THEE? How do I forget thee? Let me count the ways. But don’t rush me. I’m not as nimble at counting as I used to be. At age sixty-five, I try to resist the urge to joke about the diminishment of my memory, the shrinking of my other powers of cognition. I’m grateful I still realize that I am repeating myself when I josh about it: Alzheimer’s, Alzheimer’s, Alzheimer’s. But how about those people who cleverly announce they have CRS? Don’t they remember they themselves have heard that same witticism a hundred times before, and do they suppose it’s going to sound new to me? Ha, ha!
