A DISTURBING SOUND
Saturday night, late.
Including the three-word title, above, I have put two hundred thirty-eight words on this page. I feel I should tell you, if you read to the end, you may, as a result, hear in your head far more words than I have typed, and you quite likely will not be pleased.
Still with me? You can bail out now if you want. If you continue to read, you may regret it.
Little over a week ago, in the course of maybe five days, Carol and I watched three movies: The Buddy Holly Story, Peggy Sue Got Married, and The Real Buddy Holly Story. Ever since, Ive had Buddy Holly songs stuck in my head. Not continuously, but often. Mostly Thatll Be the Day, Oh Boy, and Everyday.
Today, over and over:
EvRY day! Something something SOMEthing
Bump bump bump BUMP, bump bump bump bump bump BUMP
...
Yes, over and over, that beat comes and goes. And I cant even remember the words; I just hear the distant and repetitive sound of those two lines.
So, I am wondering, if you care to tell me, does my mentioning this bring to your mind a time when some lyric or jingle was stuck in your head? Are you willing to tell me what it was? Is it stuck there now? What more are you willing to say?
Thats all. Just wondering. Goodnight. Sweet dreams. ♦
I would welcome your thoughts on this page (or any of my
others). Write to me at the following address. Please
be sure to spell Grossmann with two ns and
mention what page you are writing about.
Thanks! BUD GROSSMANN
