During our morning phone call with Dad today, Carol and I called Aunt Judie in North Carolina. She recently moved into a new home beside a five-acre pond formed by a beaver dam. As she stood on the shore a few evenings ago, Aunt Judie recalled, she thought she saw a beaver swimming toward her. But, when the creature came up out of the water, she realized it was a rabbit! I told her she should be able to tell the difference, because bunnies make a much softer sound when they slap the water with their tails.
