Oh, Lord!
Far be it from me
to second guess
the powers that be,
those in the American
government and military,
who chose to schedule in
Holy Week
the first use against human beings
what has been declared to be
THE MOTHER OF ALL BOMBS.
Far be it from me,
yes,
to second guess
the powers that be.
However, had they asked,
I might have humbly wondered,
Why don’t they hold their fire, why
don’t they wait till Mother’s Day
to detonate their device with
so invitingly ironical a sobriquet?
