If Professor Martin Luther had not been
a man of such humility and restraint, he
might have, on October 31, 1517, posted
a nice, round Hundred Theses (or even
A Hundred and Five!) upon the wooden
door of Wittenburg Castle Church. And if
Professor Luther had gone that far, I fear
and I speculate, Catholics and Lutherans
(and Lutherans and Lutherans, yes!) might
still be engaging in disputatious conversation
all the way to this quincentennial day!
