Several friends, elderly persons residing
in or near Galloway County, Wisconsin,
old enough to worry a bit about falls, strokes,
and heart attacks, but not yet deeming them-
selves frail enough to warrant subscribing to
medical alert systems, have agreed to check
on one another, morning and evening, via brief
e-mails. This past Friday morning, when the
temperature was 23 degrees, one such senior
citizen in Monona wrote to her friends in Fjord.

Good morning. |
Very excited about going to food Co-op today.
Will be wearing new black/white plaid flannel shirt and rust-colored walking shoes. Will either feel snazzy or silly.
Have a good day!
Debbie

I can’t say if you’ll feel silly, ... |
..
...but I know you’ll feel chilly!
Send a photo! Lovely image you brought to my mind, Deb, but I encourage you to put on more than shirt and shoes when you venture forth today!
Love, Dave
At 9:31 a.m. the Whole Foods shopper did
send a photograph, mitigating any mistaken
assumptions David may have made about the
plaid, button-front shirt and the lace-up, wide-
toed, Keen-brand shoes, but the picture did not
establish to a certainty that Debbie had fully
taken to heart Dave’s well-intentioned advice.
