I hadn’t recently thought about that particular measure of voter loyalty, but Mr. Trump’s reported response to the shooting two days ago at a naval base in Pensacola, Florida (three persons killed by the shooter; eight wounded), put me in mind of the hypothetical scene on Fifth Avenue. And, same day, a friend of mine told me he voted for Mr. Trump and hopes to do so again. My friend’s sole reason, he said, is that the president is a “pro-lifer.” I have decided I agree, in one respect, with the president: This all is like incredible.
