How many times this year, in just this one disrupted month of May in America, have you heard an exchange of parting wishes such as these?
“Stay safe!”
“You, too!”
Oh, I should probably mention: It was a white guy asking that question, “How many times.” If black people say to one another, “Stay Safe, You Too,” I don’t know, maybe do they mean it in a different way?
